Robert Dean Regennitter
June 26, 1947 - May 26, 2017
Robert Dean Regennitter, the son of Catherine (Terry) and Harry Regennitter was born on June 26, 1947 in Spencer, IA. His childhood years were spent in Spencer where he graduated from Spencer High School. Following high school, Robert enlisted in the Air Force stationed in San Bernardino, CA and worked as an airplane mechanic until his honorable discharge as Sergeant in 1970.

While in San Bernardino, Robert married Barbara Franseen on October 31, 1968. Together they had two children, Ross and Ryan. After the Air Force, Robert and his family moved back to Spencer, IA. He became one of the first employees at Eaton's corporation, working there as a tool and die maker from 1973 to 1991. Being mechanically inclined and always good with wood working, he and his wife, Barb soon put their skills and creative ability to use supporting the crafting business, Country House, they started in 1982.

Robert moved to Congress, AZ in 1992 to escape the cold Iowa winters. He returned to Spencer, Iowa in 2005 to be closer to family. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed wood working, exploring hobbies such as photography, family time, and his three Boston Terriers: Snowflake, Joy, and Pearl.

Robert passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer, IA on Friday, May 26, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (1985), his father, Harry (1952), his mother, Catherine (2013), and his sister, Wanda (2012).

Left to cherish his memory are his two sons: Ross Regennitter and his wife, Cindy, and their children: Rebecca and Nathan of Cary, IL; and Ryan Regennitter of Gilbert AZ; one brother, Terry Regennitter of FL; a brother-in-law, Earl Birchard of Spencer, IA; brother-in-law, Brian Franseen and his wife, Anji of Spencer, IA; sister-in-law, Linda Ball and her husband, Jim of Lincoln, NE and other relatives and many friends.

I only knew Robert for the past 9 months as my mother was also a resident at St. Luke Lutheran Home. Robert had a witty sense of humor, sometimes he would get a sparkle in his eye, and then smirk at you and you knew he was being ornery. Even though I only knew him during his difficult illness he was a joy to know. God puts us in places at certain times for special reasons, and I am thankful to have known him.
