“I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I too have lost family members and know this can be one of the most difficult things to go through. I just wanted to leave you with a scripture that has helped me and let you know your family will be in my prayers. The scripture is Acts 24:15 and it talks about a hope of a resurrection when we could see our loved ones again.”

“Mel Henning will go down in my history book as one of my favorite friends of my Dad. I babysat for the two Henning boys for years and Mel treated me with utmost respect and was always genuinely interested in how I was and how my family was. His smile lit up a room and his charisma was infectious. He had a respect for and intrigue with the world around him.”

“Twila and Family members, I'm so sorry to have received word of Mel's passing. But I thank Hutch for letting me know. I want to take this means to offer my most sincere sympathy to all of you in your recent loss of Mel. Losing a family member is really tough to take, even though you might have been expecting it to happen. (I don't know about this, as I wasn't told what his health problem was.) We're never ready for this kind of loss. Am remembering back to the old Walnut Grove Awards trips. What fun we had on each and every one that we had earned. And, what awesome friendships were made at these times! May you draw comfort and strength from your family and friends, your FAITH, but most of all, your LORD! I want you to know that you and yours are in my THOUGHTS and PRAYERS, as you struggle through the upcoming days, weeks and months. May God wrap you in His loving arms and heal your minds and bodies. God's blessings to you and yours at this time of bereavement. Your old Beemer NE Walnut Grover spouse. Rosemary”

“I met Mel when I worked at SMH where he had been a volunteer there. We would talk just about every week and he'd tell me stories of his family, fishing and golfing. I recall visiting with him about my son enlisting in the Nat'l Guard and when my son graduated from school in 2014, he gave me a card to give to him. He was and will always be one of the nicest men I've ever met. I'm sorry for your loss but I know in my heart he's right next to Jesus in Heaven looking down and smiling his wonderful smile. ”
