     Carol Janet Lowe, the daughter of Melvin and Vivian (Johnson) Aakhus, was born December 25, 1946 in Hartley, Iowa.  She grew up in Everly, Iowa, where she received her education, graduating from Everly High School in 1965.  She was confirmed at the Hope Lutheran Church in Everly.

     During her adult life, Carol lived in the community of Maquoketa, Iowa for 11 years until moving to Sutherland, Iowa in 1989.  She worked at A & M Laundry for 11 years and later worked at Tyson Foods in Cherokee, Iowa for 16 years until her disability forced her to retire. She loved to watch TV, playing cards and loved to gamble even though she wasn’t very good at it.

      Carol passed away at the Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa on Friday, October 13, 2017.  She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marlene Brookfield.

      She is survived by one son, Darin Lowe of Sutherland; one grandson, Lance Wiese of Maquoketa, IA; her siblings: Douglas (Kathy) Aakhus of Phoenix, AZ, Larry (Linda) Aakhus of Lawton, IA, Dean (Linda) Aakhus of Milford, IA, Linda Nellis of Sutherland, IA, Myrna (Bruce) Yeager of Chaska, MN and Holly (Denny) Baysinger of Chaska, MN; other relatives and friends.      

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 17 at 1:00 p.m. at Warner Funeral Home in Everly.
