Dorothy Casperson was born August 4, 1921 in Ayrshire, Iowa to Austin and Nellie Chatfield. She received her education in the Ayrshire school system. Her younger years were spent in Terril, Iowa. At nearly 40 years old she returned to school and became a registered nurse. In 1969 she moved to Spencer where the majority of her nursing career was spent at Longhouse Residence in Spencer and the Ruthven Care Center caring for the elderly which she enjoyed so much. Having five boys, Dorothy was an avid sports fan showing her presence at sporting events around Northwest Iowa for many years. Also, thank you to Alana and the other nurses at Hospice of Spencer Hospital for helping make her final days as comfortable as possible.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Hospice of Spencer Hospital, First English Lutheran Church or the Spencer YMCA.
