Sharon Ann Knudtson, the daughter of Leonard and Betty (Hanson) Beckmann, was born on April 1, 1955 in Pender, NE.  Her parents raised her in Bancroft, NE where she attended elementary, middle and high school.  During the summers as a child, and carrying on the tradition with her own daughters, she would travel to Minnesota to visit family.  After graduation, she moved to Spencer, and attended the Spencer School of Business.  She first worked at Spencer Foods and A.A.L.F.S.  Later she became a proud employee of Eaton’s for 30 years.  She was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and also the Catholic Daughters, and was a dedicated volunteer.

She and her husband, Jeff, lived in Fostoria. Sharon was a supportive wife, loving mother, stepmother and grandmother, and a truly compassionate human being.  She always made sure holidays and birthdays were extra special for her daughters, with an extra special treat for dinner at Mrs. Lady's.  Sharon was an incredible friend and would make sure everyone else was taken care of before thinking of herself.  Every year before Christmas she would collect the pop cans from Eaton's, and then she and her daughters would use the return money to purchase groceries and supplies for Upper Des Moines.  Her caring spirit was something to be admired and can be an example to all. It became an anticipated annual tradition to make a special trip to the Omaha Zoo with her daughters and grandkids.  She and Jeff would take the grandkids camping during their summer breaks from school.  Sharon enjoyed sewing, gardening, attending craft fairs with her friend, Karen, and going to the Clay County Fair every year.  She was unbelievable in the kitchen.  Her canning skills were very impressive (and she was a willing teacher :) but many people who knew her were also lucky recipients of her delicious desserts.   Her personal favorite was Pecan Pie.  But most of all she loved to spend time with her grandchildren.  Sharon was a very strong person, a fighter both in character and spirit, and she will be greatly missed.

Sharon passed away on April 23, 2019 at the Spencer Hospital, surrounded by her family.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Shirley Hall.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jeff of Fostoria, IA; her daughters: Rachel Neeman of Spencer, IA and Erica (Matt) Janssen of Emmetsburg, IA; her three stepsons: Justin (Ann) Knudtson of Waterloo, IA, Brian Knudtson of Iowa City, IA and Brody (Kari) Knudtson of Independence, IA; her stepdaughter, Kari (Tony) Rossetti of Mt. Vernon, IA; her grandchildren: Gabriel and Willow Janssen, Megan and Connor, Olivia, Alex and Isabelle, Miles Elodie and Amelia Knudtson and Leo and Gianna Rossetti; her sisters; Diane and Randy Buhrman of Fremont, NE, Kaylene and Sterling Grell of Ashland, NE; her mother-in-law, Geneva Knudtson of Milford, IA; many brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews; her best friend, Karen Seversen; and many other special family and friends.

Memorial services are will be 10:30 A.M., Monday, April 29, 2019 at the the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Milford.

“I grew up with Sharon in Bancroft ; she was definitely one of my very best friends. I’m very sorry we drifted apart. A couple of memories that come to mind...we had matching rompers with elephant legs (that my mom made) for a joint birthday party at the skating rink when we were in seventh grade. Somewhere I have pictures. She especially loved her father! When we were in first grade and had to go outside for recess in the winter, we sat dangling our legs in a window well to keep warm. She was always genuine, warm and caring. She loved her girls greatly. I am so very sorry for your loss.”

“I just read about Sharon and her passing. My deepest sympathy goes out to all her family in this difficult time! I worked with Sharon in her area for a couple of years at Eaton and I can tell you she had the patience of a saint trying to teach me how to do the machining of shafts and other products. Somehow she made it all better when I screwed up the product by not getting all the burrs off and to make it go down easier she brought in her special treats and I will never forget how kind and considerate she was. I am thankful our paths crossed even for the short time I was there. Blessings to your family!”

“Jeff, Rachel, and Erica,
We are sorry to read that Sharon has lost her battle with her cancer. We first crossed paths many years ago, and then again once Sharon started work at Eaton. We both remember the laughs we shared with her when we worked the community service days at the Clay County Fair together, driving the train and picking up pop cans. It was a pleasure to serve on the Community Action Committee with her. During this time of sorrow, may you always be aware of the Lord's abiding love and draw comfort from the many memories that you are blessed to have. Our deepest sympathy-Tom and Mary Galik”
