Alberta the daughter of Albert and Hazel (Grover) Hockett was born on January 25th, 1936 in Gillett Grove Ia.  She passed away November 6, 2018 in Cheyenne, Wy.

The family moved to Graettinger where she went to school and graduated in 1953. Alberta was united in marriage to Harry LaWayne (Red) Baxter on November 13th, 1954. To this union 4 children were born.

Red and Bert made their home in Dickens, IA. Bert worked at The Veneer Plant in Spencer for a couple of years. She then drove a school bus for South Clay school district for several years. During that time she took classes to learn the art of cake decorating. Bert made and decorated birthday, wedding, and anniversary cakes for many years.

They moved to Arkansas in 1974, a dream they had. When they moved back to the Langdon community, Bert worked at Aalfs manufacturing until her retirement. She continued her cake decorating as well.

Bert enjoyed quilting, making several beautiful quilts over the years. She spent time gardening and fishing as well.

Her summer vacations were spent traveling to see as much of the United States as they could. Camping as they went, with many stops to see family along the way.  Red became ill soon after they retired, making it difficult to go as they pleased. After his passing she had family and friends that included her and she dearly appreciated this.

After health issues she spent the last few years in Cheyenne, Wy.

Alberta is preceded in death by her husband, LaWayne (Red), her parents, a granddaughter, Alison Feldman, and a brother, Leon Hockett.

She is survived by her 4 children: her son, Harry and his wife, Sarah and granddaughter, Lindsay; her daughter, Roxanne Birchard and her  husband, Larry and  grandson, Jason Birchard (Alyssa); her daughter, Patty Newbury and her husband, Merrill and granddaughter, Abbie Greene (Caleb), great granddaughter, Lila, grandsons: Jake Feldman and Joe Newbury; her son, Casey and his girlfriend, Mandy Ayotte, grandsons: Dakota and Dalton Baxter,  and  Mandy’s daughters: Kasey and Harley Ayotte; her brother, Allen Hockett and his wife, Delores; her sister, Wilma Koch; nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends.
