Colleen Ann Hermstad, age 85 of Spencer, Iowa formerly of Sioux Rapids, Iowa died on Tuesday June 25, 2019 at her home.
Private family burial services will be held at a later date in the Lone Tree Cemetery in Sioux Rapids, Iowa.
Colleen Ann Hermstad, the daughter of Leland and Thelma (Banks) Cheevers was born in Sioux Rapids, Iowa on April 4, 1934.
Colleen was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Rapids.
Colleen lived her youth in the Sioux Rapids community and attended the local school system. Colleen was united in marriage to Milo Hermstad in 1950 to this union 6 children were born: Bruce, Mike, Tim, Denise, Jeff and Brad.
Colleen worked several jobs growing up and was a homemaker on the family farm where they raised livestock, farmed and took care of her family. She cleaned houses for many people and took care of the elderly as well. Her love of teddy bears lasted over the years and she had a collection like no other. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who truly loved her family.
Colleen’s life will always be loved and cherished by her family which include her children: Mike Hermstad of Spencer, Iowa, Tim (Mary Boge) Hermstad of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, Jeff (Lori) Hermstad of Spencer, Iowa, Brad (Heidi) Hermstad of Sioux Rapids, Iowa.; grandchildren: Heather (Kyle) Hennings of Hartley, Iowa, Haley Hermstad of Hartley, Iowa, Jaci Hermstad of Spencer, Iowa, Grayson and Kayley Hermstad of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, great-grandchildren Braelyn & Wrenley Hennings of Hartley, Iowa brother Pete Cheevers of Arizona, other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Dick Cheevers, son Bruce Hermstad, daughter Denise Kleavland and granddaughter Alexandria Hermstad.
