Ardyce Colleen (Tuschoff) Stevenson 91, of Spencer, Iowa passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday August 10th, 2019. She had resided for the past 2 years at Northshire Nursing Home in Spencer.

Ardyce was born July 10th, 1928 near Moneta, Iowa to Jens (Chris) and Ora (Lighter) Tuschoff. She was raised in Moneta, Iowa and graduated from Gillett Grove High School. Ardyce started working for Farmers Bank in Spencer directly out of high school.

On February 22nd, 1947 Ardyce married the love of her life William Reed Stevenson at the Methodist parsonage in Spencer. At the time of her passing Ardyce and Bill were married for 72 years. Their early marriage was spent in Royal and Webb, Iowa. Moving to Spencer in 1960.

Ardyce and Bill were blessed with 4 sons. David Stevenson of Las Vegas, NV, Denny (Ardith) Stevenson and Gary (Liz) Stevenson both of Spencer, IA and Douglas (Jodi) Stevenson of Sioux City, IA.

Ardyce was a person of many loves and interests. First and foremost was her family. Her husband Bill, whom she shared a life together of over 70 years. They worked side by side in their business, Bill Stevenson Construction which Bill started in 1960. Ardyce handled the books for the company.  She would also help out decorating the homes they built. From painting to wallpapering Ardyce was not afraid to get her hands dirty.

From the many family gatherings and reunions at home and at the Tuschoff cottage at the lakes, to attending her sons’ and grandchildren’s activities.  Family always came first. Ardyce was active in her church, First Christian Church of Spencer, serving on various boards and helping out on any service or activity that went on at the church.  Ardyce loved to garden, can and cook. She was famous for her Christmas spreads with every kind of cookie and dessert you could imagine.

Ardyce loved arts and crafts. From needle point to making afghan blankets for everyone. She would make ceramic characters to paint for the various seasons. She loved it all and the enjoyment of making them with her friends.

She is survived by her husband, William “Bill” Stevenson of Spencer. A sister Lois (Tuschoff) McConkey of Lewistown, Montana.  Her four sons and their spouses,  her 5 grandchildren Mitchell (Hillary) Stevenson of Spencer, Christopher Stevenson of Waukee, Iowa, Bethany Stevenson of Sioux City, Iowa, Matthew (Jennie) Stevenson of Spencer, Emily (Pete) Widvey of Everly, Iowa.
