Wanda (Taylor) Eninger was born January 27, 1926, in Osceola County near Sibley, Iowa, to Dallas B. and Alice M. Winkel Taylor.  As a child she contracted polio which caused her to start grade school at the age of seven.  She attended her first year of high school in Sibley, then her family bought a farm near Melvin, Iowa, where she graduated in 1945.  She attended UNI in Cedar Falls for one year for her teaching credentials.  She taught in a one-room county school near Sibley for a year.  She did more study at Buena Vista College before teaching second grade in Royal, Iowa.  There she met and married Robert A. Eninger in 1948.  She raised three children and worked at the veterinarian office until they sold the practice in 1965, and moved to their farm near Rossie, Iowa.  Through the years she enjoyed substitute teaching, volunteering with the Spencer Hospital Auxiliary, delivering ‘Meals on Wheels’, handwork (especially crocheting), watching her Twins baseball, and reading.  Bob and Wanda attended and were active in the Royal Methodist Church, and later the Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer, Iowa.  They both enjoyed playing ‘500’ and fishing, making many trips to Canada and northern Minnesota.  Except for three years in Bend, Oregon, they lived their entire married life in the Spencer area.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter (Dianne’s twin); four brothers: Bob, Donald, Howard and Ray; sister, Ann Hansen; sisters-in-law: Fern Taylor, Patty Eninger, and Jeanne Eninger.  She is survived by her children and their spouses: Dianne Binder (Larry King) of Spencer, IA, Larry (Betsy) Eninger of Crescent City, CA, and Donnis (Ruben) Stugart of Spencer, IA; sister-in-law, Suzonne Taylor of Dover, DE; brothers-in-law: Kirk Hansen of Bloomfield Hills, MI, and Harold Eninger of Spencer, IA; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials will be donated to Hillsdale College in Michigan.
Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 14, 2019, at North Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Spencer, Iowa.

“Seen your mom this week, even though we didn't talk a smile crossed my face from all the past times we had spoken. But just as those memories crossed my mind, I hope all the memories you carry of your mom do the same as you move forward.

“I was sorry to learn of Wanda's death. She was my second grade teacher. Bob was in the service at the time and she would let a couple of her students go to the post office during the noon hour to see if she had a letter. She would probably lose her job if she did that today. Loved her soft laugh. Cherish the memories. June Santage Johnson ”
