Daughter of Carol Cadmus of Spencer

Jennifer Sena Cadmus Keating was born on March 19, 1978, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  She was joined a year later by her sister Melissa.

Jennifer attended schools in St Louis Park, Minnesota, and later attended college, graduating with a degree in anthropology from the University of Minnesota, Morris.

Artistic abilities encouraged Jennifer to create beautiful pieces of jewelry and needle crafts.  She was a good seamstress and sewed many of her own clothes, as well as items for friends.   Her calligraphy-designed cards were treasured by her family.   She was a brilliant mind, who was always seeking the truth.

Jennifer passed away of heart failure in Spencer, Iowa, on May 8, 2020.

Surrounding her in love are her mother Carol Dyhrkopp Cadmus, her sister Melissa Cadmus, and her niece Lillian Cadmus.   She will be missed by her aunts and uncles:  H and Joanne Dyhrkopp Schar and their family -- William and Sheena Schar and Paul Monson and Sarah Schar and their son Ansel; John and Donna Dyhrkopp Clarke and their son Sean;  Dee Bethke and her children Brad, Danielle, and Michael Bethke; Dan and Ellie Cadmus and their children David and Stephanie Cadmus, other relatives, and friends.

There will be no services at this time.  Private family services will be held at a later date.

“My sincerest condolences. I am shocked and saddened by the news of Jen’s passing. We had many wonderful conversations on my back deck. We were backyard neighbors in Petersburg, ND for many, many years. She would come and get herbs and what I call weeds out of the yard to use. She loved picking my raspberries and spent many days on the ground “sunning” as she harvested them. She was very smart and we had some interesting and philosophical conversations. She was blessed with a sincere kind heart. Rest in peace Jen. I will think of you when I harvest the berries.

““God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes
and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore.
The former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:3,4)”

“Carol and Melissa~
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dear daughter and sister, Jennifer!.
I recall meeting Jennifer several years ago, and found her to be just as bright and creative. She was making some amazingly detailed and beautiful beaded purses at that time.
Please know that my heart joins with the others who mourn with you, surrounding you in a circle of caring and love.

“So sorry to hear of your loss! I never met her but if she’s like her mother, and sister and Aunt Joanne she must have been very special. We aren’t supposed to have to bury our children...”

“When we were kids, Jen was so intimidating... smarter, more talented, and funnier than any other kid I knew; four years older than me, I was in awe. The first time I heard Tori Amos was when Jen was playing piano and singing. As adults, we grew from cousins into friends, and I am so thankful for that. I will miss her singing, her piano playing, her beautiful art, her whip smart knowledge of so many things, and her ability to turn every joke on a dime. She was and will always remain in my memory a beautiful soul, my cousin, my friend. ”

“Jennifer was a wonderful niece, with a creative and inquiring spirit. A joy to know. She was taken from us too soon, but let us celebrate her and the never-ending gift her life gives us. She reminds us, from a better place, of the poet Yeats' lines: "We must laugh and we must sing./We are blest by everything./Everything we look upon is blest."”
- John Clarke
