Margery Mae Fraseur, daughter of Bertha and Herbert Maurer, was born September 28, 1923 in Tipton, Iowa.  She attended grade school, high school, and junior college in Tipton before leaving to study liberal arts at the University of Iowa.

Marge moved to Chicago and worked briefly for United Airlines as a reservationist until December 1947 when she married her Tipton sweetheart, George Fraseur.  After his dental school graduation in 1950, they moved to Spencer, Iowa and opened his orthodontics practice.  She quickly became part of the small town fabric with friends, PTA, PEO, church choir, and volunteer work at their church, Grace United Methodist.

They spent summers at their cottage on Lake Okoboji and winters in Ft. Myers, Florida.  She loved her family and never missed a chance to spend time at one of her children’s homes making memories with her grandchildren.  She played the baritone, was an accomplished seamstress, and avid knitter.  She loved music, art, travel, bird watching, teddy bears and chocolate.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, George Fraseur, her three sisters: Lucille, Maureen and Shirley, her two brothers: Gale and Stanley, and her special friend, Donald Wehde.

She is survived by her four children: Richard Fraseur and fiancé Linda Geerdes of Spirit Lake, IA, Ann Fraseur Aggers and husband Keven of Loveland, CO and their children, Alyson, Adam, and Barrett.  James Fraseur and wife Susan, of Clearwater, FL and their son, Spencer, and Jane Fraseur Lee and fiancé Scott Austin of Omaha, NE and her children, Chelsea, Charlie, and John and four great grandchildren: Kennedy, Finn, Jackson, and Hudson.

Memorials may be given to Lake Okoboji United Methodist Camp by either sending them to 21413 154th Street Place, Spirit Lake, IA 51360 or online at

Memorial Services are pending for this fall at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.

“So sorry to hear of your mother’s passing… I remember when she turned 90 and you brought her to the house to see your summer lake home.
I would like your family to know that you are welcome to get in touch with me... if you’d like to see the house again when your family is back in town for services. I am sure you have wonderful memories.
We appreciate all your mother and your father did to build this beautiful home. George and I have four grown children and will soon have a total of 10 grandchildren. We very much love and enjoy this wonderful home.. and will always be thankful for their efforts.
God bless you all in this difficult time.”
