Robert Dean Frick, the son of George and Dorothy (Bates) Frick, was born in Osceola County, Iowa on December 25, 1936. He was raised in Ocheyedan where he attended and graduated from high school. Following high school, he worked with his dad on the farm. He entered into the military on November  4, 1959, serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on January 25, 1962 and then served another three years in the Army Reserves. He returned to Minnesota after his military service where he farmed for several years. He then worked at the hospital in Marshall, MN as an EMT and in the maintenance department. He moved to Texas in 1981 and worked at Texas Women’s University as a carpenter. He then returned to Spencer in 2004 and worked at the Spencer Hospital, where he met his wife Hanna. After their marriage, they enjoyed their time together visiting family and friends in Iowa, Minnesota and Colorado, as well as being a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
