Steven Wayne Daly (Shaggy), the son of Ed Daly and Barb Dickinson was born August 23, 1952, in Spirit Lake, Iowa.  His childhood years were spent in the Okoboji, Iowa, area and raised by his grandparents.  Steve graduated from Arnolds Park High School in 1970.  He began working at Terrace Park Dairy where he met his wife, Sharon Suber and married June 22, 1974.  They moved to Spencer, Iowa, in 1976, where they raised two children.

Steve worked at Terrace Park Dairy, Blue Bunny, Witt Sales, Midland Transportation, Dohrn Trucking, Spencer City Sanitation, and Norgaard Sand and Gravel. Steve was active in golf, fishing and singing.  Steve spent many hours singing at the lakes area, and enjoyed playing cards with his friends at Dyno’s gas station.  Steve taught his children the love of golf at Woodlyn Hill’s golf course.  He loved his four grandchildren and many pets.

Steve passed away Friday, July 24, 2020, at the age of 67.  He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Daly; stepmother, Marilyn; grandparents, Jay and Goldie Daly, and Leslie and Leona Booton.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sharon Daly; daughter, Jessie (Daly) Hauschen; son, Joshua Daly; mother, Barb Dickinson; brothers: Ric Daly, Jon Dickinson, Dave (Rocky) Dickinson, Pat Daly, Mike Daly; sisters:  Vicki Winchell, Dana Messerole, Cheryl Joynt; four grandchildren: Jacob, Jason, Peyton and Haley Hauschen; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Special thanks to the Iowa Rock 'n Roll Music Association.  Steve spent many days and nights performing and listening to his favorite music.  He met many special people there, as well as Table 316, Chaplin’s and many areas he traveled to.

“Our prayers and sympathy to the family of Steve Daly. He has bee a friend to us for many years, having first made his acquaintance through the Iowa Rock and Roll Music Association. We have always enjoyed listening to him sing his favorite songs at many places in the lakes area and with several of our favorite bands. He sang with The Senders at both our 45th and 50th Anniversary celebrations at the ELKS in Estherville. He also sang with The Senders at two of our families annual Joy of Life Foundation events at the EXPO in Spirit Lake. Steve had a unique personality in the fact there was never a stranger in his life. He will be missed. Blessed be his memory.

“To Barb and all of Steve's family: all of us at Iowa Rock 'n Roll Music Association will miss Steve terribly and for a very long time. He brought us much joy through his hundreds of hours of volunteer work. We will always remember him in his white sport coat and pink carnation. We will remember his beautiful voice whether singing with a band or doing countless karaoke numbers. He was the master at selling raffle tickets to raise money for the music museum. He always had a big smile and learned to become a very respectable dancer. I can't tell you how his death has left a huge hole in all our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace!”

He made those times even more fun for all of us around him. We were so glad to see his picture with his 🎵”White sport coat with a pink carnation🎤” as his obit picture. He loved wearing that!
