“My sincere condolences to Hilda's family and friends.
I met Hilda just after I moved to Spencer in my first job at Trinity Daycare !
Hilda was kind and put a friendly face on my new town quite far from where I was born and raised.
Over the next many years she was the same kind person she was from day one !
We would run into each other quite often and I was always glad to see her and catch up !!!
Rest in peace dear friend you made a huge difference to people !

“Barb, Dee, Casey and families, please accept our sincere condolences on the passing of gentle, sweet Hilda. We would run in to her, and her friend Sheila, from time to time. What silly girls they were. I can see Hilda's smile and hear her laugh. Her pain is over and she is with her mom and dad and siblings. ”

“Hilda was my cousin as her father, my Uncle John and my father Henry were brothers. I have many good memories with Hilda from her childhood when my sister and I would stay a week in the summer with Uncle John and Lorene. She came with her parents, brother & sister to visit my parents on their farm near Story City, IA. Later she would visit many times as she and her parents would stop in Ames and stay overnight with my family. Sometimes on their way home from a road trip or from when coming home from a visit with Ann & Barry and family in Kentucky. She was always there to attend our daughter's weddings here in Ames and other family events. In later years we always enjoyed seeing her and a chance to visit at the Clay County fair each fall. She always kept in contact with a card at Christmas time. I will miss her greatly and remember the many good times we enjoyed together. ”

She was classmates with my cousin Linda Salton. I didn’t know her well but I remember she was gentle, sweet and kind to people. “Hilda was a faithful member of our City of Spencer ADA Council for many years. She enthusiastically brought many of her friends to join us and supported us as we worked to make Spencer a better place for all persons and especially persons with disabilities. Her smile was one thing you could count on and she always kept us updated on how everyone was doing that couldn't make it to the meetings. She has certainly "earned her wings." God's peace and comfort to her family. Know that she was well loved and cared for by all of her friends on the ADA Council. See 'ya in heaven Hilda!”

“Sending sympathy to Hilda's family and friends. The last time I saw her was at our 50th class reunion. She did so enjoy catching up with all of us there and we enjoyed seeing her and hearing her enthusiasm for her church activities. She was always the first one to send a card to someone or to say hello when she saw you. Prayers to all.
Her classmate and friend, Dorothy Wilson Dowell”
