Frances Irene LeMaster, the daughter of Clive and Alta (Wittchen) Prentice, was born on February 26, 1920 in Terril, IA. She graduated from Everly High School in 1937. Frances went to Iowa Methodist Hospital School of Nursing from 1938-1941. She was a R.N there until she married Everett LeMaster on January 20, 1942. They farmed near Royal until retiring to Spencer in 1994. Frances worked as a R.N. at the Spencer Municipal Hospital for 3 years and also at St. Luke Lutheran Home for 14 years. She was a member of the Royal Methodist Church, and a 50-year member of the Clay County Garden Club. She was an accredited flower arrangement judge. In 1985 her farm gardens won her the Gardener of the Year Award. She earned many ribbons for her flower and table arrangements at the Clay County Fair. She loved beautiful things, especially flowers and lawns with no dandelions or leaves. She collected coins, stamps, recipes, newspaper and magazine pictures and genealogy. Everything she did was meticulous.

Frances passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Northshire Residence in Spencer at the age of 100. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett; her parents; her brother, Meryl Prentice and son-in-law, Dennis Anderson.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Joanne Anderson and her husband, James Davis of Plymouth, MN; 3 grandchildren: Timothy Anderson (Cindy), Kari Shideman (Charles) and Corey Anderson (Janelle); 9 greatgrandchildren and other relatives.

“JoAnn and family, My deepest condolences to you and your family. Your Mom and Dad were always part of the close knit Bailey family. Remember well your mom's sweet smile and her gentle laugh. Her wonderful flower beds at the west end of Royal are always something I tell my family/friends about when driving west out of Royal.”

“Oh what a gift Frances shared with all passers-by through her flowers carefully tended, dancing gently in the breeze! Although I did not know her personally, when I was a child we often drove by as we left Royal, just to see her gardens. I think mom enjoyed them as much as I did, when even as a child, I was mesmerized! My sincere sympathy to each of you now and in the days to come.”

“So sorry for your loss. When we were home in 2019 we were at Long House, and I spoke to her. She probably didn't remember me, but it was nice seeing her. I remember all the fun times we had playing our accordions. Deepest sympathy. God Bless”

“Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Just remember when our Dads bowled on Flute Ramsey's team. Wasn't it every Thursday night? Then your Mom and all those beautiful flowers she grew. She was one Master Gardner! Cherish the memories!”

“Sending sympathies. Will never forget Frances's awesome flower gardens...........she was my inspiration for gardening. Becky brought her to see my flowers one day a few years back. What a sweet woman! She and I had another thing in common. We both attended the great Ia Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines. ”

“God richly blessed Frances with a green thumb or perhaps two green thumbs. The LeMaster front lawn, back lawn and side lawns were a testimony to that. Every place a flower could put down roots, there was beautiful color. Frances was a master at growing and maintaining her meticulous flower gardens coming into Royal. Frances' sweet smile and beautiful gardens will be missed. Sorry for your loss. God Bless.”
