Duane Olin Anderson, the son of Clarence and Josephine (Batcheler) Anderson was born on December 18, 1927 in Peterson, Iowa. He graduated from Peterson High School in 1945. He then enlisted in the Navy where he spent from January 1946 to December of 1947. He was honorably discharged. He returned to Peterson where he worked in the lumberyard and as a mechanic.

On August 26, 1951, Duane married Phyllis Struve at the Hartley Methodist Church. The couple farmed together and where they raised their children, retiring  1991. Duane enjoyed farming, fishing, snowmobiling trips with his family, spending winters in Arizona, living by the river, feeding and watching the birds, having coffee after church in their home and having coffee with his friends in the morning. He enjoyed traveling taking trips to Hawaii, Europe, Mexico and the Panama Canal. His favorite pastime was dancing, but most of all he loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren and friends.

Duane was a member of the First Congregational Church  and the Lions Club. He served on the Church Council, youth group leader, elevator board, library board, and held offices in them throughout the years.

Duane passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, IA at the age of 92. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law; his son and best friend, Rick in 2010 and one grandson.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 69 years, Phyllis; his daughter, Cheri Brown (Greg); his son, Jon (Janet) and his daughter-in-law, Deb Anderson all of Peterson; eight grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and many special friends.

Due to Personal Family Circumstances the funeral has been postponed at this time. An anouncement will be posted at a later date.
