So often in life the divine gives us lessons.  Those lessons blend into our lives; sometimes we get them right away; sometimes after the fact.  Whether we get them right away, or after the fact matters not…it is important that we get the whisper from the Divine flowing into our perceptions.  In some cases, we just need a reminder of what is important.

On December 13, 1978, Angela Marie Quist whispered into our lives.  Born to Bill and Marilyn Quist and raised in Spencer, Iowa along with her brothers David, Jon, and Jason.  Angie attended the schools in Spencer, Iowa and graduated from Spencer High School in 1997.  It was here Angie started making some life-long friends, and up until Angie’s death on January 17, 2021, remained in contact with them on at least a weekly basis.

In fact, throughout her life she continually grew the number of lives she touched and had continuous contact.  Friends and family a like received calls, texts, and messages on a regular basis (especially on their birthdays).  For some, if Angie saw them online at 2 AM she would say hello and ask how they were doing.  There were no time limits to making sure one of her family or friends were doing okay.  Angie’s kindness and good will had no limits.

Eventually, Angie landed in Laurens, Iowa to build a life, with the love of her life and partner Ron Tevis.  Making weekend visits to her Mother’s to play, by her accounts, some epic Canasta games, have some of Mom’s home cooking, and some good ole’ banter with her brothers.

Angie leaves behind her Mother Marilyn, Partner Ron Tevis, her Brothers David (partner Ryan Lobdell), Jon, Jason (Wife Christine), her nieces and nephews: Chet, Madison (husband Christian and son Liam), Zack, Amelia, Nelly, and Anna.  One cannot forget, her life-long friend Rachell Hoffard, who can best be described as a Sister by another Mother.

Angie was preceded in death by her Father Bill Quist, and much to his chagrin, will now have to resume his Canasta playing skills!  Also, her Grandmother Colleen Quist (Smith) and Grandfather Earl Quist, along with Meryl Smith.   Grandmother Oma Montag and Grandfather Philip Montag.

Seeing how Angie’s kindness touched people’s lives, perhaps she was whispering to us all, and is best summed up by an anonymous quote: “Today you could be talking to someone who is trying their best not to fall apart. So, whatever you do today, do it with kindness in your heart!”

Memorial Services will be 10:30 A.M., Saturday, January 23, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.

“I was sorry to learn about Angie's passing. I only met her a couple of times, after I bought my house from Bill and Marilyn. She came over before I had moved in and wanted to see her old room, and stopped again before Christmas for a brief visit. You have my deepest sympathy.”
