Alden Ivar Franseen was born on December 7, 1921, to Anna (Mainquist) Franseen and Axel Ivar Franseen in Stanton, Iowa. He grew up on a farm in Stanton, graduated from Red Oak High School and entered the Navy in WW II.
Bible camp was where Alden met Dorothy Gustafson in 1945. They were later married and had four children; Linda, Barbara, Joan and Brian. They lived in numerous locations while Alden was in the Navy, and after the Service, farmed in Stanton then Albert City. Next they moved to Spencer, where Alden worked for Culligan, then the United States Postal Service.
Alden was an active member of the First Baptist Church, an avid wood carver who enjoyed woodworking in most any form. He treasured spending time with family and friends.
Alden is survived by his wife, Dorothy, his daughter Linda Ball and husband Jim of Lincoln, NE, his son Brian and wife Anji of Spencer, IA; grandchildren: Tania Feemster and husband, Tommy; Jim Ball and wife Mary; Jeff Ball and wife Michelle; Ross Regennitter and wife Cindy; Ryan Dallas Regenitter; Sam Shuberg and wife Lisa; Ben Shuberg and wife Emily; Heidi Shuberg; Jill Barr and husband Mike; Tabitha Pelgen and husband Bob; Jamie O'Hearn; Samantha Chandler and husband Mike; Tim Franseen and wife Vanessa; Sean O'Hearn; Danielle Franseen and 15 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughters, Barbara and Joan and his brother, Millard and wife Virginia.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30pm on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Spencer.
