Alene Denise Steelman

     Alene Denise Steelman, the daughter of Lymon and Wilma (Jones) Eaton was born September 1, 1954 in Laurens, IA. Her childhood years were spent in the Marathon, IA area, where she attended school and was the last class to graduate from Marathon High School. She attended Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, IA.

     Alene married Larry Steelman in the summer of 1974. They lived in Arizona for a while, before moving back to Marathon. She worked as a waitress and managed several restaurants, including the Marathon Café. After Larry passed away in 1996, she moved to Spencer, IA in 1998. Alene enjoyed being outside, Elvis, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

     Alene passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2019, at the Memorial Community Health Center in Hartley, IA, at the age of 64. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, James, 2 brothers, Kenneth Eaton and Gary Walton, one sister, Patricia Eaton, and one nephew, Patrick Arnold.

     Left to cherish her memory are her 3 children, Alan (Sondra) Steelman of Spencer, IA, Aaron (Tasha) Steelman of Terrill, IA, and Ashli (Jennifer) Steelman of Hartley, IA; 14 grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.
