Alice Darlene Gaston, the daughter of Wallace and Nellie (Nelson) Kenney, was born May 22, 1927 in Rich Hill, MO. Her childhood years were spent in Rich Hill, where she received her education. During her childhood years, she enjoyed helping on the farm.
Alice married Delbert Gaston on November 9, 1947 in Butler, MO. After their marriage, they lived in several communities in Missouri, Iowa and Kansas, where Delbert worked as a meat cutter. Delbert passed away as a younger man and Alice moved to Spencer, Iowa to be closer to her family. She worked at Super Valu, Eaton Corporation and Perry Judd in Spencer. She was an active member of the First Christian Church in Spencer, where she served as deaconess and on various committees. She also enjoyed crocheting, visiting her friends, playing Sudoku, and going on mission trips. Most of all, Alice enjoyed spending time with and spoiling her grandchildren.
She passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Friday, May 29, 2015 at the age of 88. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delbert; five brothers and two sisters.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Gary and his wife, Linda of Spencer; one daughter, Shirley Clark and her husband, Larry of Spencer; five grandchildren: Amy McKoy, Kristina (Ryan) Windy, Kimberly (Heath) McGough, Bobbi (Tony) Hoger and Robert Gaston and his friend, Jennifer O'Brien; 5 great grandchildren: Kalyssa, Benjamin, Leeum, Anthony, Elizabeth; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, June 1, 2015 at the First Christian Church in Spencer.
