Alice Tuttle, the daughter of Fred and Hazel Wilson Tuttle, was born June 29, 1919 in rural Jackson County, Minnesota. Alice grew up in Spencer, Iowa where she received her early education. Alice loved learning and enjoyed school. In 1942, she attended and graduated from Apostolic Bible College in Tulsa, OK. Following her schooling, Alice returned to Spencer and worked at F.W. Woolworth Store for 23 years. Often receiving commendations for her department being 100%. When Woolworth closed, she started working for Longhouse care facility now Longhouse/Northshire being the first med-aide in the newly built Northshire. Alice worked there for 16 years until her retirement.
Alice loved family and it was her dream and desire to have a Tuttle family reunion, so with work and love a very successful annual well attended reunion was born and is still being held annually. Alice was a wonderful sister to her 6 siblings and loving aunt to her nieces and nephews. Most of all, Alice loved God and Church. She was very active in Church having been a Sunday School teacher for many years, Junior Church leader, Ladies Auxiliary President and Young Peoples leader and speaker. She was a lifetime member of the United Pentecostal Church now Faith Pentecostal. Alice was also a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Spencer.
Alice passed away on November 8, 2014 at Longhouse Residence in Spencer at the age of 95. She is preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers: Melvin, Allen and Gary and 2 nieces: Connie and Barb.
She is survived by her sisters: Lillian Jenkins of Spencer, IA, Hazel Mae Hintz and her husband, Otto of Milford, IA and Vivian Tuttle of Spencer, IA; 4 nieces; 3 nephews; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Faith Pentecostal Church in Spencer.
