Alice Jane (Petersen) Florke was born June 16th, 1917, in Nausha, MN, the daughter of Charles and Eva (Augusta) Petersen. She graduated from Pierson High School in 1936.
She was married to Amil Florke on September 1st, 1936, near Pierson. After their marriage they farmed in the Pierson area until 1946 when they relocated to a farm near Larrabee where they farmed until retiring to Sutherland in 1970.
Among her numerous achievements, she worked 16 years at MHI in Cherokee, Hospice volunteer for over 20 years, plus various church activities and community organizations. Favorite activities included, card playing, bingo, bowling and fishing.
Survivors include two sons: Larry and Barbara of Defiance, Ohio and Donald and Marcia of Cherokee; four sisters: Edna, Carol, Mildred and Eunice; six grandchildren: Laurianne, Lisanne and Leanne; Renae, Randy and Ronnie; three step-grandchildren: Randy, Robbie and Greg; 22 great grandchildren & 5 great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Amil in 1991, two infants, parents, two brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers will be Randy and Ronnie Florke, John Scott, Ron Kaufmann, Scott Malloy and Sean Maloney. Memorials may be directed to Sanford Hospice of Sheldon in lieu of flowers. Alice was loved and adored by all.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2009 at the Sutherland United Methodist Church in Sutherland, Iowa.

Visitation will begin at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, August 9, at Warner Funeral Home in Sutherland. The family will be present from 4:30-6:30 p.m.
