Alice Jane Levisay

July 16, 1920 — February 18, 2012

Alice Jane Levisay, the daughter of Chauncey and Alice Eyestone Merwin, was born July 16, 1920 in Temple, Texas. As a young girl, Jane moved to Clear Lake, Iowa. She graduated in 1939. In 1941, Jane married her high school sweetheart, Jim Levisay. They were married for 58 years. Jane was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and church. She was known for her knowledge of the Bible, cooking, baking, sewing and playing cards. She and Jim taught Sunday School for many years as well as serving as leaders of the Pioneer Club for Kids. Jane passed away on February 18, 2012 at St. Luke Lutheran Home in Spencer at the age of 91. Preceding her in death were her parents: Chauncey and Alice Merwin; her husband, Jim; sisters: Mary, Althea and Helen; brothers: Art, David and Ralph; and her great grandchild, Clayton. Survivors include sons: David of Sioux Falls, SD, Bob (Marsha) of West Des Moines, IA and Karl (Debbie) of Spencer, IA; daughters: Jane (Steve) Nelson of Ponca, NE and Joanne (Fritz) Groat of Clare, IA; 12 grandchildren: Lisa, Leslie, Abigail, Ginny, Emily, Aaron, Benjamin, Matt, Wendy, Andy, Shea and Cole; 19 great grandchildren; 6 sisters: Kathryn, Ruth, Doris, Carol May, Sarah and Pauline; 2 brothers: Jim and Paul. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 1, 2012 at the Evangelical Free Church in Ponca, NE.
