Alma Louise Wendt

November 17, 1920 — September 5, 2012

Alma Louise Wendt, the daughter of Henry and Bertha Bowen Grote, was born November 17, 1920 in Little Rock, Iowa. She attended country school through the eighth grade in Grant Township and finished high school in Little Rock. Alma married Robert C. Wendt on November 17, 1941 at Little Rock on the farm where she lived. They moved to Graettinger, Iowa, until after World War II and then moved to Spencer in 1946. Alma worked for Walmer's Bakery, Feldman's Department Store for 21 years and for Pamida for 11 � years, before going to work for Upper Des Moines Opportunity in 1980, where she worked until her retirement in February of 1990. Alma also helped with Gooch Commodities give away and enjoyed volunteering and helping people. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. Alma was also a member of the Eagle's Club, VFW and the American Legion Auxiliary and loved to crochet and go fishing. She passed away at the Spencer Hospital on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at the age of 91. Alma was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert in 1974. Left to cherish her memory are cousins including Carol Felkey of Graettinger, IA; her godchildren: Dave Felkey and his wife, Donna of Brainerd, MN, Rhonda Shafer of Ankeny, Roxanne Kerr and her husband, Jeff of Ankeny and Tom Felkey and his wife, Lynn of State Center, IA; and many other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday, September 8, 2012 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer.
