Alvin Leon DeWall, the son of Anton and Elizabeth (Moritz) DeWall was born January 13, 1928 in Pocahontas, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Pocahontas area, where he attended school.
Alvin worked on a farm until enlisting in the U.S. Army in 1950 and served during the Korean Conflict until his Honorable Discharge in 1952.
Alvin married Marilyn Letscher on February 6, 1960 in Lennon Grove, CA. He continued to farm for himself and many other people all over northwest Iowa. He enjoyed going to the Clay County Fair to see the John Deere tractors, attending car shows, and going to the mall to watch people and walk. His greatest joy was spending time with family and going on family road trips. He was a member of First Christian Church.
Alvin passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at St. Luke's Lutheran Home in Spencer, IA, at the age of 86. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marilyn, of Spencer, IA; 2 children, Joy DeWall of Spencer, IA and Jeff (Boni) DeWall of Storm Lake, IA; 4 grandchildren, Ashley (Dean) Cother, Matthew DeWall, Shaniese, and Tessa; 3 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, Chase, Connor, and Zoey; one sister, Elizabeth Fitzpatrick of Sioux City, IA; other relatives; and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will take place 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 25, at First Christian Church in Spencer.
