Amanda Caroline Steffen

Amanda Caroline Steffen, daughter of William and Elizabeth Kolbeck Seivert, was born in Ashton, Iowa, on October 7, 1921. She received her education at St. Joseph's School in Ashton Amanda married Everett Steffen on October 3, 1942 in Dakota City, Nebraska. Following their marriage, they resided in Royal, Iowa, for 18 years where she was employed by the school system. In 1960 they moved to Spencer where she joined Sacred Heart Parish and became a life long member of the Catholic Daughters of America. The remainder of her life was spent in Spencer where she continued to work in the school system. After retirement, she devoted her time to volunteer work, receiving the Sacred Heart Parish Volunteer of the Year Award in 1996. Amanda passed away at the Spencer Municipal Hospital on Tuesday September 25, 2012 at the age of 90. Survivors include her daughter; Mary Steffen of Placitas, New Mexico, her son; Colin and his wife Maggie of Tubac, Arizona, three grandchildren: Jenny Simon of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sarah (Henry) King of Chicago, Illinois, and Jamie (Cindy) Steffen of Minneapolis, Minnesota, seven great-grandchildren, one sister Betsy Einck of Worthington, Minnesota, as well as other relatives and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband Everett: four brothers: Clem, William, Lawrence and Peter, three sisters: Gertrude, Hilda and Rosella.
SERVICES
Catholic Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spencer.
