Anna Alvina Jalas, Soul Healer, Reverend, RN, CRNA, CCT, DC
December 20, 1922-September 2, 2011
Anna Alvina Jalas, 88, of Santa Maria, was welcomed home to heaven on September 2, 2011. Anna was one of six children born to Mollie & Henry Jalas in Sutherland, Iowa. She graduated from Sutherland Consolidated School in 1940 and entered St. Joseph Mercy College of Nursing. After graduation, she became the Nurse Supervisor at Hartley Hospital in Hartley, Iowa and then followed her sister Gertrude to Santa Maria, California and started working on the O.B. floor at Our Lady of Perpetual Hospital. In 1949, Anna returned to Iowa and worked at Spirit Lake Hospital. Three years later she went on vacation with friends to Arizona and stayed to open a new hospital in Casa Grande. While there, she became interested in Anesthesia and made a decision to return to school at Mt. Sinai in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After graduation, Anna worked for many years as an Anesthesia Nurse in Minnesota, Colorado and California.
Her personal physical struggles after a life threatening accident led her to seek alternative therapies to heal herself and ultimately brought her to Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles. She graduated in 1966 and opened her practice in Santa Maria in 1967. She spent the rest of her life on a quest to learn and share her amazing healing gifts with the world. She is truly a Soul Healer.
Anna always loved a good joke, polka music, entertaining with her accordion and playing 500 while eating popcorn. She loved her family and always remembered every birthday and anniversary. At Christmas she gave a game to each family for all of her nieces and nephews to enjoy. Her smile lighted the world and her laugh resonated in our hearts. She will be missed every day.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Henry Jr., and sisters: Dora, Gertrude and Elizabeth. She is survived by her brother, Harry and his wife, Esther, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family, and her worldwide patient family.
