Anna H. Quist

February 18, 1920 — June 9, 2009

Anna Hensena Quist, the daughter of Carl H. and Agnes (Byggere) Johnson, was born on February 18, 1920 in Royal, Iowa. She was raised and received her early education in Spencer, graduating from Spencer High School. Following graduation, Anna served six months in the military with the WAC's during WWII. On March 20, 1953, Anna married Lawrence Quist in Spencer, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer, where Anna worked as a custodian for N.W. Bell Telephone Company from 1968 until she retired in 1985. Anna was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Women of the Moose, helped serve lunch at the Senior Center and did some volunteer work with the AARP. Anna enjoyed quilting with her daughter-in- law, Linda, doing crossword puzzles, playing cards and going out to eat with her friends. Anna was also an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, following football and basketball. Anna passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Frederick and two sisters: Elvera and Caroline. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Ronald and his wife, Mae Wynn of Mineola, TX and Michael and his wife, Linda of Cedar Rapids, IA; four grandchildren: Mark Wayne, Heather and Nicole; four great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00A.M., Friday, June 12, 2009 at the Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. There will be a lunch served at the Moose Lodge, following the services.
