Anna Marie Pingel, the daughter of Chester and Stella (Tomaszewski) Michalak, was born June 26, 1946 in Wieden, Germany. Her family moved to New Jersey in 1951, where she received her education, graduating from Collier High School in Trenton, NJ. Two children were born from her 1st marriage: Anje and Craig. They moved to Spencer, Iowa in 1966.
Anna married Douglas William Pingel on March 12, 2005 in Las Vegas, NV. After their marriage, they continued to live in
Spencer, Iowa. She worked for Spencer Foods, where she was head of security for several years until her retirement. Anna and Doug enjoyed traveling, their membership in the Corvette Car Club and loved NASCAR, BINGO and going to casinos.
She passed away at the Spencer Hospital in Spencer, Iowa at the age of 72. Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Douglas in 2013; a son, Craig Miller in 2005; a brother, Chester Michalak and a grandson, Max.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Anje Johnson and her husband, Darin of Dickens; a daughter-in-law, Holly Miller of Spencer; stepchildren: Shawn Pingel and his wife, Kari and Bill Pingel and his wife, Peggy all of Spencer; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; two brothers: Ed (LeeAnn) Michalak and John (Camille) Michalak all of New Jersey; one sister, Mary Barrett of New Jersey and two special friends: Lori Peters and Beth Reskie.
