Anna Schmid

March 19, 1914 — June 19, 2009

Anna Helen Schmid, the daughter of Jacob Frederick and Pauline Mayer Schmid, was born March 19, 1914 on a farm north of Spencer. She attended rural school east of Fostoria and graduated from Spencer High School. While growing up, she was very active in her 4-H group. She later attended and graduated from Cedar Rapids Business College. Upon graduation, Anna worked at Emmetsburg Production Credit Association for three years, Clay County ASCS for five years and Farmer's Home Administration for 33 years. She was also a long time caregiver to her parents, her brother, Carl, and her sister, Irma. Anna enjoyed playing bridge, sewing and writing. Anna was baptized and confirmed at First English Lutheran Church and was a lifelong member of the church. She served as treasurer, secretary, council member, Sunday school teacher and was active in the Altar Guild and the women's guilds. She was also a member of the St. Luke's and the Spencer Hospital Auxiliaries. Anna entered into eternal rest on June 19, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Alice Schmid, Edna Seaman and Irma Winkelman, and brothers Elmer, Alfred, Oscar, Carl and John Schmid. Left to cherish her memory are a special nephew and his wife, Mark and Becky Schmid of Everly, Iowa, two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Schmid and Erma Schmid both of Spencer, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, June 23, at First English Lutheran Church, Spencer, Iowa.
