Anne Byers

Margaret Anne Byers, the daughter of Willie and Ida Evelyn Sarson Stead, was born August 10, 1934 near Bristol, England. Her family moved to the United States and settled in Milford, Iowa in 1948. Her childhood years were spent in Milford where she received her education, graduating from Milford High School in 1952. Anne married Donald Dean Byers on October 21, 1954, in Milford, Iowa. Following their marriage, they lived in Milford until moving to Spencer in 1957. After raising her girls, Anne worked for various florists and worked in the activities department at Northshire Residence for 15 years. In her spare time, Anne enjoyed doing cross word and jigsaw puzzles, knitting and traveling. Most of all, she loved spending time with her girls and grandchildren. Anne passed away at Longhouse Residence on her husband's birthday, Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at the age of 77. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don in 2005 and her sister, Mary. She is survived by three daughters and their husbands: Elizabeth and Gary Stevenson of Spencer, Judith and Kirby Nielsen of Spencer and Mary and Mike Kooker of Pella, IA; six grandchildren: Mitchell Stevenson, Matthew (Jennie) Stevenson, Kelsey and Nigel Nielsen, Nathan and Megan Kooker; great granddaughter, Hallie Anne Stevenson; sister, Betty Branstetter and her husband, Merle; sister-in-law, Lillian Dempsey; other relatives and friends.
