Arden Bernard Raveling, the son of Ben and Lena (Knox) Raveling, was born December 16, 1927 in Clay County, Iowa. He was raised on a farm near Peterson, where he received his education, graduating from Peterson High School.
Arden married Norma Plagman on February 5, 1950, in Linn Grove, Iowa. After their marriage, they lived in Peterson, where they farmed until their retirement. Arden and Norma worked side by side on the farm for many years until their retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed raising flowers, gardening, woodworking and tending to his pet cats and dogs. They later moved to the town of Peterson where they have since made their home. He was an active member of the First Congregational Church in Peterson.
He passed away at the Pearl Valley Nursing Home in Sutherland, Iowa on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at the age of 91. Arden was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma on August 30, 2019 and a brother Jordan; a brother, Adolf and sister, Elein both in infancy and a daughter-in-law, Mary (Mrs. Rod Raveling).
Left to cherish his memory are three sons: Rodney Raveling of Peterson, IA, Blair (Mary) Raveling of Linn Grove, IA, and Paul Raveling of Farmington, MN; four grandsons; two granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Delores Raveling of Cedar Falls, IA; other relatives and many friends.
