Ardis Joyce Long

Ardis Joyce Long, the daughter of Everett and Vila (Walker) McKeever, was born January 3, 1931 on a farm S.W. Ardis attended schools in Linn Grove, Rossie, and Royal. She was active in basketball and softball and played the French Horn while at Royal High School. Ardis was married to John William (Bill) Long on November 26, 1948 in Jackson, MN. Their first child, Nancy was born December 5th just before her daddy was called to go to Korea in 1950. On Bill's return from Korea in 1951, the family lived in Royal and Spencer, and children, Mike and Debra were born. The family moved to Denver, CO in 1961 where they resided until 1981, when they retired to Arizona. She was a member of Velda Rose United Methodist Church in Arizona. She also did volunteer work at the church and worked part time at an RV Resort in Arizona, where she lived. She was also a member of the United Food & Commercial Worker's Union Local #7. She left us to be with her Lord and her husband and children at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at the age of 83. Ardis was preceded in death by her husband, Bill on April 2, 1987; her daughter, Nancy; one grown son, Mike; two infant sons: Julius Evrett & John Patrick and her only brother, Larry McKeever. Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Debra Klekacz of Leavenworth, KS; 2 granddaughters: Deena Pettis & her 3 children: Megan, Ashley & Emily Pettis all of Leavenworth, KS and Terra Clabaugh & her husband, Jeff along with their 4 children: Shelbie & Tyler Fuller & Brandon & Jessie Clabaugh all of Dolliver, IA; sister-in-law, Sharon McKeever of Spencer, IA; three nephews: Mitchell, Tom & Doyle McKeever and their families; five cousins; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
