Ardis W. Gopperton

December 22, 1912 — August 10, 2007

Ardis W. Gopperton, the daughter of Allen and Ruby (Pierce) Stoner, was born on December 22, 1912, near Peterson, IA. She received her early education attending country school near Peterson and then moved to Spencer where she lived with her grandparents and attended high school. On January 20, 1933, Ardis married Charles 'Bill' Gopperton in Peterson, IA. Following their marriage, they farmed northwest of Peterson until their retirement in 1968. Ardis was very involved helping Charles on the farm and raising their four children. Ardis was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star and O.A.O. Club in Peterson, which was a ladies community service club. She was active in UMW church circle. Ardis enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, playing cards and gardening. She loved to spend time with her family having big dinners and get-togethers at holidays and picnics. Ardis passed away on August 10, 2007, at the Countryside Estates in Cherokee, IA, at the age of 94. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles, in 1983 and two sisters. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons: Robert and his wife, Frieda of Britt, IA and Roger and his wife, Kary of Sutherland, IA; two daughters: Norma Hoke and her husband, Anton of Woodland, CA and Brenda Oliphant and her husband, Gary of Des Moines, IA; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Stoner of Omaha, NE; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 14, 2007, at the United Mehodist Church in Peterson, IA.

VISITATION
Visitation will begin after 11:30 a.m., Monday, with the family present from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. There will be an Order of the Eastern Star Service conducted by the Buena Vista Chapter of Sioux Rapids, 7:00 p.m., Monday evening at the Warner Funeral Home in Peterson.
