Arlan Keith Clausen, the son of Peter and Myrtle (Runkle) Clausen, was born May 5, 1919, in Spencer, Iowa. His childhood years were spent in rural Spencer where he received his education, graduating from Spencer High School in 1936.
Arlan married Irma Garms on February 14, 1946, in Royal, Iowa. Following their marriage, they farmed in the Spencer area. Arlan loved the farm life, and also raised Purebred Shorthorn cattle. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Royal, and later, Christ the King Lutheran Church in Spencer. He was also a member of Farm Bureau. Arlan and Irma enjoyed doing many things together such as traveling the U.S., serving school lunches at Iowa Great Lakes Lutheran School, and spending time as a family, especially at their cottage on the lake.
Arlan passed away at St. Luke Lutheran Home on Friday, September 26, 2014, at the age of 95. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irma, on July 11, 2007; four brothers: Homer, Floyd, Lyman and Howard; and two sisters-in-law, Lucille Clausen and Ruth Clausen.
Left to cherish his memory are three sons: Otto and wife, Judy of Bluffton, Indiana, Jerry Clausen of Spencer, IA, and Jon and wife, LaRae of Arnolds Park, IA; one daughter, Ann Sahraie and husband, Saboor of Denton, North Carolina; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Frieda Garms of Andover, MN; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Christ The King Lutheran Church in Spencer.
