Arlene Joyce (Goyette) Nelson, the daughter of Ollie and Ione Goyette, was born on February 11, 1927. Her childhood years were spent in Royal, IA where she received her education, graduating from Royal High School. She moved to Des Moines, IA to work in the district rationing office. Following their marriage, they lived in Spencer where they raised their sons, David and Donald. In 1964, they bought Lynch Drug which later became Nelson Drug, where they worked side by side until their retirement in 1989. In 1992, they moved to Milford, IA and began to spend their winters in Arizona. They bought a home at the Highlands in Spencer in January 2011. Arlene and her little Yorkie, Boji, were cheerful ambassadors for all friends and residents of the Highlands and St. Lukes. Bob and Arlene were members of Bethany Lutheran Church in Spencer. They were blessed with over 65 years of marriage. Arlene was involved in many church activities, Love Takes Root and Heifer International.
