Arlene Tielbur

March 3, 1927 — November 25, 2007

Arlene Tielbur, the daughter of Jack and Edyth (Jones) Thompson, was born March 3, 1927 in Spencer, Iowa. After graduating from Spencer High School, Arlene worked in the office of Scott's Store in Spencer. On December 17, 1949, Arlene joined with Alfred John Tielbur in holy matrimony and in 1974, on their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary, renewed their vows. Shortly after their marriage, Al and Arlene began working side by side in the trucking industry; Arlene behind the desk and Al behind the wheel. They continued to work together until their retirement. Al and Arlene made their home in Spencer, until they relocated to Spirit Lake shortly after Al's retirement in 1998. For the past year Arlene has been receiving care at the Hilltop Care Center by their loving and gracious staff. Arlene liked to cook and bake, do word puzzles, and crafts. She enjoyed birdwatching, listening to music like Barry Manilow and Gershwin and she also loved dogs. Arlene passed away at the Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake on November 25, 2007 at the age of 80. She was preceded in death by her parents; as well as her six siblings: Wayne Thompson, Vivian Olson, Lee Thompson, Cecil Thompson, Carroll Thompson and Jimmy Thompson. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Al of Spirit Lake, IA; her daughter, Vicki Axtell of Spirit Lake, IA; her two granddaughters, Shanon Axtell of Germantown, MD and Holli Axtell of Spirit Lake, IA; her grandson, David Axtell and his wife, Kate of Golden Valley, MN; other relatives and friends.
