Arnold Ray Sebby

Arnold Ray Sebby, the son of Reuben and Goldie (Louderback) Sebby, was born April 9, 1926, in Lakefield, MN. His childhood years were spent in Lakefield where he received his education. Following his schooling, he entered the military on April 17, 1943, serving in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre on the USS Detroit during WW II. He was honorably discharged on March 4, 1946. Arnold married Carol Wintz on June 15, 1951, and to this union four children were born: Marcia, Barbara, Tammy and Dwayne. In his early years, Arnold worked at Mac's Standard, and later Bjornstad's Paint Store and Steffen Furniture where he worked for 27 years installing floor coverings. He married Esther Bale on July 15, 1978, in Spencer. After their marriage, he continued to work at Steffen's until his retirement in 1991. Arnold enjoyed deer hunting in Wyoming with his son and friends. He also loved to play cards, fish and watch the Chicago Cubs. Arnold was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Spencer. Arnold passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at Longhouse Residence at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Howard, Joe, Glenn, Merle and Russell Sebby; and two sisters: Hazel Jensen and Myrtle Holdorf. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Esther Sebby of Spencer; one son, Dwayne Sebby and wife, Kathy of Spencer, IA; three daughters: Tammy Merry of Spencer, IA, Marcia Hale of Woodridge, IL and Barbara Sebby of Downers Grove, IL; one sister, Helen Kuehl of Las Vegas, NV; one sister-in-law, Darlene Sebby of Jackson, MN; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four stepchildren; 8 step grandchildren; 4 step great- grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
SERVICES
Memorial Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, November 16, 2013, at the Warner Chapel in Spencer, Iowa Military Services will be conducted by the American Legion - Glen Pedersen Post #1 of Spencer, Iowa
