Arthur Lester Evans

   Arthur Lester Evans Jr. was born July 11, 1924, in the Gillett Grove area to Arthur and Orpha (Warwick) Evans. His childhood years were spent in Gillett Grove where he attended school and graduated from Gillett Grove Consolidated School in 1944.  Art was active in High School sports.  He thoroughly enjoyed baseball and basketball.

   On April 16, 1954, Art was united in marriage to Laura Irene Bressler at the Gillett Grove Methodist Church.  To this union six children were born.  Art and Irene raised their family on a farm northeast of Gillett Grove.

   On June 27, 1993, Art married Sue Meyer at the First Baptist Church Spencer, Iowa.  For many years Art and Sue enjoyed sharing Shaklee with their family and friends.

   Art enjoyed teaching adult Sunday school, his Angus cow herd, and telling stories of his childhood to family. He was also a lifelong avid Iowa Hawkeye fan.

   Art passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2021, at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City Iowa, at the age of 96. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Irene; infant son, Arthur; daughter, Jane; great-granddaughter, Halle Jade; brother-in-law, Gale Alger; sister, Shirley Alger; brother-in-law, Kenneth (Ted) Bressler, and niece, Cindy Richardson.

   Art leaves the legacy of his faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whom he followed in obedience all his life. Those left to cherish the memory of his honesty and integrity are his wife, Sue; his children:  John Evans of Webster City, Iowa, Althea (Rod) Rouse of Webster City, Iowa, Curt (Cari) Evans of Ontario, Ohio, and Kenneth Evans of Spencer Iowa; three step-daughters: Diane (Mike) Blum of Clarksville, Iowa, Deidre (Richard) Drees of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Denise (Chad) Bailey of Peoria, Illinois; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
