Austin "Bud" Jess Fleck

     Austin “Bud” Jess Fleck, the son of John and Marguerite (Schaefer) Fleck was born December 27, 1938 in Sloan, IA. His childhood years were spent in the Sloan, IA area, where he attended school and graduated from Sloan High School.

     Bud married Sandra Fleck and to this union 5 children were born. They later divorced. He worked as a mechanic for several years in Sioux City, IA. He then moved to Spencer, IA, where he was a manager at Alf’s for 38 years and then worked in the HyVee bakery for 10years. Bud enjoyed fishing, golfing, traveling, and gambling. He was a member of the High Noon Kiwanis and coached Little League. Bud married Ramona Anderson on September 29, 1995.

     Bud passed away on Thursday, November 12, 2020 at Mercy One Medical Center in Mason City, IA, at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his parents.

     Left to cherish his memory are his wife Ramona of Spencer, IA; 5 children, Chris (Terese) Fleck of Minneapolis, MN, Kathleen Tennison of Houston, TX, Stacy Gibbin of Storm Lake, IA, Sheila (Joel) Lizer of Des Moines, IA, and Amy Swigert of Ames, IA; 3 step-children, Kent DeBerg of Spencer, IA, Kevin (Aly) DeBerg of Okoboji, IA, and Koreen DeBerg of Kensington, MD; 7 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; one sister, Marg (Lee) Benton; other relatives; and many friends.
