Barbara Wilson Brees was born March 7th 1924 in Dundurn, Saskatchewan, Canada to Frank and Hazel Ferrin Wilson. In 1937 she moved with her family to a rural Cherokee Farm and graduated from Aurelia High School in 1942. Barb attended UNI Teachers College and following that she taught in the Spencer and Peterson school system. Her father also attended UNI as well as 4 of her grandchildren.
In 1949 Barb married Raymond (Noby) Brees. To this union three children were born, Marilyn, Gary, and Kathryn. Barb was a member of the Peterson United Methodist Church and served as Sunday school teacher, a member of Esther Circle, UMW, and the bell choir. She was also a member of the Cherokee PEO Chapter EE. Barb was also an active American Legion Auxiliary member and 4-H leader for many years. Barb remained on the acreage she and Noby moved to in 1952 until 2005 when she moved to Hillside Assisted Living in Spencer and in 2010 she moved to St Lukes Nursing Home in Spencer. Barb will be remembered for her love of the outdoors, fishing, and taking care of her family. She enjoyed her garden, making meals for her family and was especially known for her fried chicken, potato salad and apple crisp.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1982, all of her siblings Frances, Richard, and Robert, as well as two granddaughters Rochelle and Nicole Edwards.
She is survived by her children Marilyn and Dan Gath, of Lake Park, Gary and Kathy Brees, and Kathryn and Bob Donahoo of Peterson. Nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Peterson.
