Barbara Anne Douglas, the daughter of Lynn and Jessie (Weyer) Kissinger, was born on January 22, 1951, in Sioux City, Iowa. She was raised and attended school in Sioux City and graduated from Riverside High School.
After graduation, she married James Douglas. James was in the military and Barbara lived in several places around the world. During this time two daughters were born: Jenny and Shanna. The couple later divorced.
After the divorce, Barbara moved to Sioux City. She held several jobs in retail over the years. In 1998, she moved to Spencer and started working at Walmart.
Barbara enjoyed sewing and was known as the pot holder lady in Spencer. She also liked to make t-shirt quilts. She liked to cook and bake and go to rummage sales and thrift stores. The most important thing to Barbara was her grandchildren, she loves spending time with them.
Barbara passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at her home by her loving daughters, she was 74. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters: Kathleen Osborn and Mary Meister and a niece, Sunshine Kissinger.
Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters: Jenny Douglas of Spencer, IA, Shanna Hoger (Chad) of Spencer, IA and Britney Shaddox of Fort Dodge, IA; her three sons: Cody Douglas of Des Moines, IA, Cole (Britney) Douglas of Algona, IA and Clay Douglas of Ankeny, IA; 11 grandchildren; one brother, David Kissinger of Sioux City, IA; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
