Barbara (Landgraf) Faber, the daughter of Pearl (Dinges) and Albert Landgraf, was born on March 11, 1924 in Odebolt, Iowa. She attended Catholic Elementary Schools in Odebolt and Early, Iowa. She graduated from Odebolt High School in 1941 and earned a teaching certificate. She taught two years in a country school.
Barbara married Bernard Faber on September 19, 1944 at Sacred Heart Church in Early. They were the parents of four sons: Randy, Tom, Paul and Dave. They enjoyed 59 ½ years of marriage before Bernard passed away in 2004.
They farmed near Early until 1971 when they moved to a farm near Spencer. For a number of years she worked at Sears Catalog stores in Storm Lake and Spencer. She also helped her husband with farming. They retired in 1986 and moved to Spencer in 1989.
She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Rosary Makers and Sacred Heart Mission Group. She and her husband did much volunteer work, driving patients to appointments in cities and volunteering at St. Luke Lutheran Home. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Barbara passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the age of 94 at the Spencer Hospital. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernard, her parents, and infant sister, Mary Ann, sisters: Mildred Olberding, Marilyn Fitzgerald, Kathleen Determann and Dorothy Mae Blass, and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
She is survived by her four sons: Randy (Traci), Tom, Paul (Pat) and Dave (Char); six grandchildren: Kim (Jeremy), Staci (Mike), Matt (Lexi), Chris (Erin), Amanda Tyler) and Valeri (Andrew); eight great-grandchildren, three sisters: Jean Jackson, Helen Eckerman and Lois Kipf, one brother, George Landgraf and many other relatives and friends.Visits: 19
