Barbara Geerdes

Barbara Kay Geerdes, the daughter of Harold and Audrey Meyers Edwards was born January 26, 1952 in Fort Dodge, IA. Her early years were spent in Fort Dodge, Ayrshire, and Spencer, IA, where she graduated from Spencer High School in 1970 with honors. She married Dale Geerdes on August 23, 1975 at First English Lutheran Church in Spencer, IA. Barbara received her B.A. degree from Iowa State University, again graduating with honors. She went to work for IBM in New Orleans, LA, and was a valued employee for over 30 years. She was employed as a computer programmer, specializing in installations for businesses, corporations, and government agencies. She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Atonement and enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. Barbara worked for IBM until her retirement in 2003. Barbara and Dale moved back to Spencer, IA, after Hurricane Katrina. She passed away at St. Luke's Lutheran Home on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at the age of 60. She was preceded in death by her parents. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Dale, of Spencer, IA and his family; a half-sister, Joyce Edwards, of New York, NY; a half-brother, Sheridan, of California, and aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
