Barbara Jean Umbrell-Mcdonough

Barbara Jean McDonough-Umbrell, the daughter of Marguerite Loehr and Raymond Winthers, was born April 9, 1947, in Webb, Iowa.    She received her early education in Webb and later at South Clay High School.

     Barbara married Marvin Umbrell in 1965 at the Methodist Church in Webb, Iowa.  Following their marriage, they lived in Gillett Grove, Ayrshire and in 1968 they moved to Spencer.  Barbara stayed home and raised their four children.  In her spare time, Barbara loved her pets, dancing, her tea time and listening to Elvis.  Most of all, Barbara loved spending time with her grandchildren and sharing her compassionate spirit with others.

     Barbara passed away on October 5, 2017, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 70.  She is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Marguerite Umbrell.

     She is survived by her son, Shane (Heidi) Umbrell of Chandler, AZ; two daughters: Heidi (Chris) Taylor of Spencer, IA, and Renee (Paul) Freeman of Spencer, IA; her grandchildren: Challer, Destiny, Shelby, Levi, Mady, Reannen and Nicholas; great- grandchildren: Ryker, Beckett and Braxtyn; brother, Jim (JoAnn) Winthers of Rolf, IA; two sisters: Deb (Joe) Medema of Ida Grove, IA and Sherry (Gail) Maurer of Sutherland, IA; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
