It is with great sadness but hope that the family of Belle Marie Cross announces her change in residence, from the earth to heaven. Belle was a long-time resident of Webb, Iowa, and more recently a resident of Bucksport, Maine. She died Saturday, March 7, 2020, at the age of 89, surrounded by family in her home.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, September 9, 1930, Belle moved to California at the age of 7. She attended Polytechnic High School in Long Beach. It was there in California that she met the love of her life, John, and the city girl became a farmer's wife.
Belle loved to take photographs and paint and created many beautiful oil paintings and other creative works of art throughout her life, including hand painted silk scarves. Most recently, she enjoyed making little books on the computer from photos she took or pictures she painted and liked handing them out to anyone she would meet. Her favorite Bible verse, which she shared with everyone, including the doctors and nurses, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Phil 4:13.
She is survived by and lovingly remembered by her daughters Valerie Cross-Fleetwood (Mark) of Bucksport, ME, Cheryl Greenawalt (Bill) of Everett, PA, and Georgianna Persons (John) of Galena, OH. Belle will also be missed by her grandchildren, Contessa Sechler, Katie Courchene, Emily Greenawalt, James Greenawalt, Robyn Persons, Daniel Persons, and Jennifer Persons, and great-grandchildren Devon, Dylan, Logyn, and Bella Courchene; Will and Micah Greenawalt; and Marissa and Samuel Sechler; as well as sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and grandson-in-law, Shawn Courchene, who provided skilled and loving care for her until the moment of her homegoing.
Belle was preceded in death by her devoted husband John, her daughter Erin Cross, her parents Claude and Nelda (Van Riper) Caylor, and her granddaughter Amanda Greenawalt.
