Benjamin Lewis Robertson was born June 30, 1946 in Lincoln, Nebraska and passed away on February 18, 2014 after a brief illness. The son of Robert and Betty Meligan Robertson, Ben grew up in Lincoln and was a lifelong Cornhusker fan. He served in the National Guard and graduated from Hastings College. He taught American history to freshmen at Walnut Junior High in Grand Island, Nebraska for five years.
Ben moved to Fort Collins, Colorado in 1978 and started his career in sales. He was friendly and could talk to anyone, had a great sense of humor and was a good storyteller, making him a successful salesman. He met his wife, Terri, in 1980. They were married in 1983 and created a family with Terri and her two daughters Melanie and Meredith. While in Colorado they enjoyed camping, skiing and golf. He was an active member of SERTOMA and the Methodist Church.
They moved to Tucson in 1990 and immediately fell in love with the desert. They moved to San Antonio, Texas in 1996 and Ben became a sales representative for Ergogenesis, selling Bodybilt chairs. The best thing happened while they were in Texas: Ben and Terri became grandparents, making time with family even more precious. Ben enjoyed gardening, landscaping, golfing and going to the beach. He always had a dog at his side, usually a lab, and loved pheasant hunting with his sons-in-law. He was active in the Methodist Church.
In 2012 Ben and Terri moved to Terri's hometown, Webb, Iowa. He retired the following year and loved it. They enjoyed traveling and made lots of road trips. Ben was enjoying winter in Florida when he became ill.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara. He is survived by his wife, Terri; his daughters, Melanie (Neal) Campbell and Meredith (Darrel) Moore; 3 grandchildren, Jonathan Moore, Ellie and Avery Campbell; mother-in-law, Shirley Hamrick: sisters-in-law: Janet (Tom) Hansen, Joan (Peter) Riley; brothers-in-law, Mark Hamrick, Craig (Cindy) Hamrick, Tony (Jill) Hamrick; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
