Bennett Ernest Mugge, the son of Arthur and Grace Hessenius Mugge, was born June 6, 1933 in Calumet, IA. His family moved to Spencer, Iowa when he was a child. He received his education in Spencer, where he received his education graduating from Spencer High School in 1951. After his schooling, he entered the military and served with the U.S. Air Force for a short time in 1953, until his medical discharge.
Bennett married Patricia Ann Wilson on December 26, 1955. He later married Jane Arrowood on November 9, 1982. Throughout the years, he farmed and did odd jobs for other residents in the Spencer area. Bennett was also a member of the American Legion Glen Pedersen Post #1 of Spencer. In his spare time, he enjoyed keeping up on current events and reading the newspaper.
Bennett passed away at his home in Spencer on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jane in 1994; one son, James Bennett who died in infancy; one step-son, Rob Arrowood; one grandson, Ryan Arrowood; 3 brothers, Morgan, Bob and Keith Mugge and one sister, Beverly Kimball.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Jeff Mugge of Des Moines, IA; Joe Mugge of Cherokee, IA, Carol Kipfer and her husband, Bryan of Windom, MN and Nancy Metcalf and her husband, William of South Sioux City, NE; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 step-daughters, Penny (Kirby) Bussell, Leanne Arrowood and Debbie (Jerry) Marlow all of Spencer; one sister, Sandra Wilmot and her husband, Jerry of Okoboji, Iowa; other relatives and many friends.
SERVICES
Funeral services will take place 10:30 A.M., Saturday, July 7, at Warner Funeral Home in Spencer.
