Berl Vincent Goff, the son of Paul and Mabel Goff, was born May 11, 1919 on Mother's Day on one of the original "homestead farms" of Iowa, just north of Ruthven. He received his education in Ruthven and left at age 18 to join the United States Air Force.
While residing in Albuquerque, he met and on August 25, 1962, he married Virginia (Lonberger) Davis. He retired from the Air Force at the highest enlisted rank in the Air Force, Chief Warrant Officer and after tours in England, Guam, Alaska and New Mexico in 1963. His love for Ruthven brought him back to the farm where he lived until the farm was sold in 1998. He had recently moved to Lincoln, Nebraska to be closer to his son.
Berl passed away at the Maddona Rehab Center in Lincoln, NE on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary and Virginia; his parents; his sister, Ruth and his brother, Paul.
Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Dean of Napa, CA; son, Chuck and daughter-in-law, Janet of Amarillo, TX, daughter, Chris and son-in-law, Fred of Syracuse, NE, son, Jack and daughter-in-law, Lori of Lincoln, NE; daughter, Linda of Titusville, FL, son, Berl of Minneapolis, MN; and loving grand and great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
