Bernard Turek

Bernard "Bernie" Turek, was born October 19, 1937 in Cleveland, OH. His childhood years were spent in Cleveland, where he received his education, graduating from West Side High School. Following his schooling, he moved to Mt. Morris, IL, where he met Judith Powell. Bernie and Judy were married on February 14, 1979 in Sioux Falls, SD. After their marriage, they moved to the Chicago area and then to Spencer, Iowa in 1987, where they made their home. Bernie worked for almost all of his life in the Printing business. He worked in litho and printing as a film stripper at Heartland Press and later Perry Judd in Spencer until his retirement. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Spencer. Bernie passed away at the age of 75 at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. While he was there he was very comfortable, receiving excellent care. He is survived by his wife, Judy of Spencer; 2 daughters: Lisa Bogart, her husband, David and their 4 children: Avery, Jack, Maisy and Jolie of West Lake, OH and Michelle Daniels, her husband, Don and their 3 children: Kassidy, Jessica and Sydney of Mason, OH; stepson, Jeff Powell of Sioux Falls, SD and his 2 children: Marc and Amanda; one great granddaughter, Payson and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Brennan Daniels and one step grandson, Jordan Powell.
